About Us

The Midwest Faceter's Guild is a vibrant community with a shared interest in appreciating and promoting the art and skill of faceting gemstones.

Our members have a vast array of experience and gladly assist those with varying levels of skill and knowledge, especially the beginner. We love to share our passion and experience by teaching and sharing information at our events, our annual faceting seminar, at regional gem shows, and on our website and Facebook page.

Our Mission

Our main purpose is to educate our members and introduce and educate the public in the art of faceting.
It is also:
-to promote education and recreation to develop the art of faceting
-to exchange information related to faceting
-to provide meetings for those of like interests
-to promote the achievement of individuals

Our Service Area

Our service area encompasses the Midwest including Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska (Eastern portion of state), North Dakota (Eastern portion of state), Ohio, South Dakota (Eastern portion of state), and Wisconsin, however we welcome all who are interested in faceting.

Community

We invite and welcome the curious, the interested, the student, the hobbyist, the retiree, the teen, the artist, the expert, and the family to share in our knowledge of and fascination with faceting gemstones.

We do this by demonstrating at regional gem shows, providing connections via this website, and continuing our quest for quality online educational programs to offer members and the general public.

Education

We're proud to offer an annual faceting seminar where beginning and advanced Faceters come together for education, practice, and community. Membership in the Guild is not a requirement to attend.

We are transitioning most of our educational events and meetings to Zoom due to the broad geographic locations of our members.

Watch this space for MORE INFORMATION ABOUT SEMINAR AND upcoming educationAL opportunities.

Membership has perks!

We're building and growing. In addition to community and "The Midwest Faceter", our signature newsletter, members have access to a private group on Facebook where they can ask questions and chat with other members about joys and challenges. Members also receive access to private areas of the website, and to educational Zoom & in person meetings with nationally known leaders in our field. Membership in our Guild also provides membership in the Midwest Federation of Mineralogical and Geological Societies.
